QUESTIONS
ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT
Am I eligible to take the course?
You can check your court notice or our website to determine your eligibility. After you are ticketed, the court sends you a notice of the bail amount you must pay. The notice will also include a listing of traffic schools that are approved by the court. Most courts require you to first pay bail and the court's traffic school fee before you submit a request for traffic school, but some allow you to pay your bail after attendance. Check with your court if this applies to you. If you see our URL, or if your court is listed on our website, you can register with us by telephone at 866-372-7277 or online.
However, if your court does not appear on our web site, your court may still grant you permission to take our course. Simply contact the court to request permission to participate in our program.
I don't see my court on your list. Will I still be able to take your course?
If your court is not on our approved list, you need to contact the court where you received the citation to obtain permission to take our online course.
I want to register for this course. How do I sign up?
All you need to do is complete all the appropriate fields, answer a few questions, and make payment arrangements. If you prefer, you may register on the phone by calling us at 866-372-7277 during our normal business hours, which are 8:00AM-6:00 PM Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM on Saturday, and 8:30-4:00 on Sunday.
PAYMENT
Didn't the traffic school fee I paid to the court cover this program?
The tuition you pay to our school is separate from the fee charged by your court. Our school is not run by the courts and we charge just like all other traffic schools.
How much does it cost to enroll in your program?
It costs $14.95 to participate in our program. There are no additional charges unless you choose to rush the delivery of your certificate.
What are my payment options?
You may pay for the course by credit card, debit card, check by phone, or money order. When you first register, we will ask you to select a payment option. After completing your registration, if you choose to pay by credit or debit card, we will send you to a secure and encrypted site where you may make your payment. Your personal information will be protected at this site. To make payments using the check by phone option, contact one of our customer service representatives at 866-372-7277. If you are paying by money order, please mail it to 1534 N. Moorpark Rd #213 Thousand Oaks, CA 91360 .
GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
Do I need to use my own computer to take the course?
No. You can use any computer with access to the internet. This means that you can take it at home or work, or you can use it as an excuse to visit a friend or your family. You can even go to a cyber café or your local library and do the work there. You are also not restricted to just one location; you can start on one computer and finish on another.
Must I sit through the entire course in one sitting?
No, you are not required to go through the course all at once. The course is broken up into several sections to give you the flexibility to complete a chapter, log off, and then log back on later. Since the program keeps a record of your progress, you can easily return to where you left off. Your status in the course will not expire, so there is no limit on how often you can log on and off. You may, of course, complete the entire course in one sitting if you wish.
How long does it take to complete this course?
It should not take longer to complete our program than it would a traditional classroom traffic school class, which is eight hours. But how long it takes you to go through the course depends on how quickly you read the material, so it may differ for everyone. Our program allows you to work at your own pace. We will not rush you along, although we will alert you if your court deadline is nearing. Otherwise you may remain in the program for as long as you need.
How do I get back into the program if I log off?
At the time of enrollment you are given the opportunity to create your own username and password. Simply enter them in the appropriate fields on our homepage whenever you need to return to complete the program. You may also click HERE for the login screen. If you forgot or lost your username or password, don't worry - just call us at 866-372-7277.
What purpose do these security questions serve?
There are two types of security questions that we use for our program. Both types are required to prevent cheating. When you register, we ask identity questions that are used to verify that you, and not someone else, are the person taking the program. Throughout the program, we will again ask you these questions. Incorrect answers will result in disqualification, but if that occurs, call our office at 866-372-7277 to be reinstated.
At the end of each chapter, you will be asked specific questions regarding the content to ensure that you do not skim through the chapter. These will be multiple choice questions. Answering these incorrectly will only prevent you from proceeding, not disqualify you from the program.
Are there any limits to how often I can take this course?
You can take our course as often as you wish to refresh your knowledge. However, you may take a traffic school course such as ours only once every eighteen (18) months for court or state credit. The time limit may vary depending on the court or department that is requiring you to take the program. In most cases, the court will send you a notice stating that you may enroll in a traffic school program. If you do not receive permission, you must contact the court to see whether or not you are eligible to attend traffic school.
POLICIES AND CERTIFICATES
Will I be able to cancel? What about refunds?
We believe our students derive something from our program. However, if you are not satisfied for whatever reason, you may cancel as long as you have not completed the entire course, and we will send you a refund. You will not be eligible for a refund if you take the final.
I was disqualified from the program. What do I do now?
Some of the more common reasons we disqualify students include, but are not limited to, clicking on the back button or failing to answer a security question correctly. If you were disqualified, you would need to call our office at 866-372-7277.
What can I do if my deadline for completion of traffic school is nearing or has passed?
Contact your court directly and inquire about an extension of your due date.
How long will it take to get the certificate?
Our office sends the original certificate of completion to you or the court within 2-3 business days of graduation with our regular delivery option. If you don't receive your certificate after a week or two, please call our office at 866-372-7277 or e-mail us at contact@8hourtrafficschool.com. We do offer expedited service at additional cost which would allow you to receive the certificate or have it sent to the court earlier. For security reasons, you may not print your own completion certificate.
I need a duplicate of my certificate of completion. What do I need to do?
If you need a duplicate of your certificate for any reason, call us at 866-372-7277 or e-mail us at contact@8hourtrafficschool.com.
TECHNICAL
I was in the middle of a section when I got disconnected. Now what?
Our program will not log you off for inactivity. Some Internet service providers will disconnect you for not maintaining online activity, however. There are also other factors that may cause you to lose your Internet connection, such as being interrupted by a call if you are on call waiting. However, our program keeps track of your progress, so if you should unexpectedly log off, just log back in to continue. You will be returned to the section following the last one that you completed. If you were in the middle of a chapter, that would bring you to the start of that same chapter.
The text for your course is too small! Are there any plans to make the text larger?
For most browsers on the PC, simply hold down the CTRL key and use the scroll button on your mouse to adjust the size of the text. You can also use the menu along the top of your browser. Go to View > Text Size and select the size that works for you. If you are using Internet Explorer and cannot change the font size with the mouse or through the menu as described above, go to Tools > Internet Options. This will bring up a small window. Select "Accessibility" button from the bottom, and then select "Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages." You will then be able to use the mouse or View menu to change the size of the text. You can also decrease your screen resolution to increase font size. If you are using a Macintosh computer, use Shift-Command-] to enlarge the text to your preference.
